GIG HARBOR
BASKET BRIGADE
Founded in 1994, by David Cathers and his wife who packaged meals for twelve unsuspecting families in need from their living room, the Gig Harbor Basket Brigade (GHBB) came under the Foundation as a sponsored project in 2013, and is now a permanent program.
Since its humble beginnings and through the care of its founder, the GHBB has grown to serve an increasing number of area families - even through two years of pandemic operations.
Over the past decade, the Basket Brigade has averaged about 1,300 packaged and delivered Thanksgiving baskets annually for local families in need, as well as area military families at Joint Base Lewis-McChord and Naval Base Kitsap. Across the two-day operation more than 450 volunteers come together to make it all happen.

In 2024, it will take about $55,000 and hundreds of helping hands to make the GHBB possible, again!
