ABOUT GGHF ENVIROCORPS

GGHF EnviroCorps, founded in 2004 by the late Vernon J. Young, a committed community leader dedicated to engaging people in the improvement and care of area parks, trails, and open spaces, promotes environmental awareness and stewardship, and provides opportunities for people to actively engage in the protection of our community’s natural resources.

Vern’s goal was to improve our greater peninsula communities by providing volunteer and sponsorship opportunities on our local roads and in our local parks. He helped create and develop trail systems at McCormick Forest and Harbor Family Park and was involved in the creation of the Greater Gig Harbor Foundation and the Great Peninsula Conservancy. He truly believed in leaving a place better than you found it.

With Vern’s passing in 2014, EnviroCorps became a GGHF program assuring a permanent legacy.
