The fifth annual Cider Swig celebration returns to Gig Harbor with over 90 ciders to sip, live music and entertainment on two stages, award winning fare, the all new Apple Carnivàle Zone, Applet Drop-off & Activity Center, and more!
Come get your swig on Saturday, September 29, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the beautiful 98-acre Sehmel Homestead Park - the perfect setting to take in the last days of summer with family and friends, sit back and listen to music, meander through the Apple Carnivàle, launch some apples and have some serious cider sippin fun!
Check out the 2018 Washington and Oregon cideries showcasing over 90 regional ciders (and close cousins) at this year's festival here. And, our local Heritage Distilling Co. will again be serving up their Fall Special.
CIDER SWIG is one of Washington's largest cider-centered, family-fun events. Admission to the Festival is FREE, except the Cider Garden and Cider Sales Tent, where entrants must be 21+ to purchase a ticket (ID required).
Each ticket includes a 6 oz. festival glass, 5 drink tokens, access to the Apple Carnivàle, food vendors, and all other festival events and activities. Additional tokens are available at the festival.
Apple Carnivàle Zone
The new Apple Carnivàle will have activities for kids of all ages, including street artists, an array of carnival games of skill, challenge and chance, an inflatable obstacle course, face painting, races, the ever-popular apple-launcher, demonstrations, exhibitors, and more.
Applet Drop-off Activity Center
Drop off the kids and enjoy some free time in the Cider Garden. For a small fee, children ages 2 to 12, can play games, create art, and have a blast in a safe, clean environment while you visit the Cider Garden and other festival activities.
Located in the Volunteer Vern Pavilion, the drop-off/activity center is operated by GGHF Curious by Nature School staff. Kids receive a swag bag with a drink, snack and other goodies.
Cost: Advance Tickets - $8.00 per child, per hour. Day of event - $10.00 per child, per hour.
3rd Annual "Battle of the Pies" Apple Pie Contest
It’s time to rev up your rolling pins and bake your best pie!
The 3rd annual Cider Swig “Battle of the Pies” Apple Pie Contest gives you an opportunity to test your pie-making skills and compete to win a cash prize. The contest is for amateur bakers of all ages.
This year our local celebrity judges will take to the Cider Swig Stage under the guidance of comedian and onomatopoeiad-ian Charlie Williams (aka the Noiseguy).
The registration deadline is September 23rd.
The Battle of the Pies will be held on the Cider Swig Main Stage, Saturday, September 29th. Bring your pies to the Apple Pie Tent by 2:30 pm.
Judging will start promptly at 4:00 pm.
Four award levels - Judge's Choice, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards will be based on...
- Overall appearance (consistency of crust and filling)
- Visual appeal (how memorable is your pie?)
- Taste (texture, filling flavor, crust, aftertaste, doneness, etc.)
- Creativity (how original is your pie?)
New this year, a special award for best youth bakers under 16.
Notice of intent to enter is requested by 5 p.m. September 23rd.
