Michelle Izumizaki - Development

michelle2Michelle joined the Foundation as its first Development Associate in August 2016 following a six-month internship with GGHF.

With family in the community, she moved to Gig Harbor in 2015 with her husband Eddie and their two small children – and two small dogs. Michelle holds a B.S. in Entomology and a Masters of Public Health degree from the University of California, Riverside. Prior to migrating to the Northwest, from California, she worked in the government sector doing disease surveillance for 7 years. With a background in public health and epidemiology, she decided to branch into work that provided greater community engagement.

She has also volunteered at Pierce County Medical Reserve Corps doing public information outreach. During her internship with GGHF Michelle worked on a variety of Foundation events, such as the The Green Gig, GGHF’s Craft Beverage Garden at the Park District’s first Food Truck Feast, the #Community Myxer, and on the development and marketing of Gig Harbor-Opoly.

Michelle is thrilled to raise her children in the beautiful and charming Gig Harbor. She loves the welcoming and friendly community. When she’s not at the Greater Gig Harbor Foundation office, she is with her kids at the zoo, library, or parks around town.

Her favorite hobbies include cooking and vegetable gardening.
